Summary of Fall/Winter 2011 Fashion Trends

I have finally finished posting my thoughts on this Fall/Winter's hottest fashion trends, which include:

Orange/Rust
Southwestern Knits
Leather Dresses
Stacked Loafers
Polka Dots
Capes and Ponchos
Bright Pants
Choker Necklaces
Peplum Skirts
Pointy Toe Pumps
Jade
Tuxedo Dressing
Feathers
Fur Hats
High Slits
Plaid

Unlike the past few seasons, this fall/winter there isn't really one overarching theme.  The trends appear to be pretty much all over the place, which is good news for us girls who like to change up our style from day to day.  If you are in to menswear, check out the stacked loafer and tuxedo dressing trends.  If you love being comfy during the colder months, be sure to check out the southwestern knits and capes and ponchos trends.  If you are a girly girl, check out the peplum skirts, pointy toe pumps, and feathers trends.  Basically, there is a trend for every girl this season!  For more details on each of these trends click here: http://cbusstyle.blogspot.com/search/label/Fall%2FWinter%202011%20Fashion%20Trends.  Have fun shopping and remember, no matter what the trends are for the season, stay true to your personal style aesthetic!

Fall/Winter 2011 Fashion Trend: Plaid

The final trend that I wanted to post about for this fall/winter is a cold-weather staple (particularly here in the C-bus):  plaid!  Plaid ensembles appeared frequently on the AW2011 runways (Above: Tory Burch; Derek Lam; Burberry; Sonia Rykiel) on pants, jackets, skirts, and accessories.  If you live in Columbus, I am sure that you already own something plaid, so just dig into your closet and pull it out!  If, however, you are one of the few who do not own anything plaid or you are looking for an updated plaid piece (plaid suits are particularly on-trend), below are some plaid options for you to consider:  ASOS bright tartan cape for $45.74 on www.asos.com; Burlington tartan-print tights for $38.41 on www.asos.com; "Downeast" dress for $228 on www.anthropologie.com; "Glen" plaid trousers with belt for $22.80 on www.forever21.com; "Toasted marshmallow" plaid jacket for $118 on www.lulus.com; Washborn plaid shorts for $79 on www.urbanoutfitters.com; ASOS premium tartan suitcase for $130.95 on www.asos.com; Tripp NYC tartan skinny pants for $130.95 on www.asos.com; "Hampden" pea coat for $198 on www.anthropologie.com; "Glasbury" pencil skirt for $148 on www.anthropologie.com; Jeffrey Campbell "Lita" platform boot for $162 on www.nastygal.com; Cooperative hooded cape coat for $129 on www.urbanoutfitters.com; ASOS tartan skirt for $52.38 on www.asos.com; Tripp NYC tartan biker jacket for $157.14 on www.asos.com.

Fall/Winter 2011 Fashion Trend: High Slits

Well, ladies, I am nearing the end of my summary of this fall/winter's hottest fashion trends (there is just one more trend after this one to come).  This trend is probably one of the least practical of the trends that I've posted about this season, as most ladies rarely have an occasion to wear a full-length skirt or gown, much less one that exposes a good part of their leg!  But since this trend was all over the AW2011 runways (Above: Michael Kors; Yves Saint Laurent; Ralph Lauren; Jason Wu), I did feel compelled to include it.  What do you think of this trend?  If you are liking this trend and are lucky enough to have a place to wear such a skirt or gown to, you may want to consider purchasing one of these slitted skirts or dresses below:  Blaque Label maxi one-shoulder sequin dress for $131 on www.lulus.com; Blaque Label "Up in Smoke" maxi skirt for $73 on www.lulus.com; Elizabeth & James "Jones" dress for $335 on www.bloomingdales.com; Idyllic Isle halter maxi dress on sale for $33 on www.lulus.com; Sass & Bide "Beauty & Madness" skirt for $165 on www.shopbop.com; LNA "Jackie" dress on sale for $66 on www.shopbop.com; Laundry by Shelli Segal shirred one-shoulder dress for $275 on www.bloomingdales.com; Zara long skirt with slits for $79.90 on www.zara.com; River Island front-frill maxi dress for $87.30 on www.asos.com; Helmut Lang long-sleeve front-slit dress for $345 on www.bloomingdales.com.

Fall/Winter 2011 Fashion Trend: (Faux) Fur Hats

I can't tell you how long I've wanted a (faux) fur babushka-type hat!  So needless to say, I am just loving this (faux) fur hat trend (Above: Tory Burch, Burberry, The Row, Anna Sui.)  Last time my parents went to Europe, I practically begged them to bring one back for me.  So you are probably wondering why I don't get one.  Well, I have this tendency to buy amaze hats (love, love, love my deep purple fedora), but then I never end up wearing them cause I feel like everyone will look at me like I'm a crazy person in the C-bus!  So they just end up sitting in my closet.  But, seriously, what is not to like about this trend?  The (faux) fur will keep your head nice and toasty during the colder months and I just think they look adorable and chic.  If you are loving this trend as much as I am, below are some (faux) fur hat options to consider:  Ana Konder for ASOS faux fur hat for $34.92 on www.asos.com; ASOS faux fur bear ears hat for $26.19 on www.asos.com; ASOS fantasy faux fur Cossack hat for $34.92 on www.asos.com; Topshop cream fair aisle faux fur trapper hat for $50 on www.topshop.com; Free People Serbian faux fur beanie for $38 on www.freepeople.com; River Island snow leopard Russian hat for $34.92 on www.asos.com; Surrell faux mink snowball hat for $58 on www.bloomingdales.com; MICHAEL Michael Kors faux fur trapper hat for $110 on www.macys.com; Marc by Marc Jacobs "Hayworth" fur hat for $128 on www.shopbop.com; Fossil "Tammy" trapper hat for $48 on www.piperlime.com; Juicy Couture "Middlebury" cable faux fur trapper hat for $98 on www.shopbop.com.

Fall/Winter 2011 Fashion Trend: Feathers

Another big trend on the AW2011 runways were feathers (Above: Monique Lhuillier; Yves Saint Laurent; Naeem Khan; Marchesa), which appeared on dresses, skirts, and even jackets.  I like this trend because it is very feminine, which suits my aesthetic, but my personal experience with feathers is that they can be kind of high-maintenance because they need a lot of care.  And, of course, the cheaper the feathered-frock the more likely it is that your feathers will fall out!  But if you are interested in giving this trend a try and are willing to put in the time to take care of your feathers, below are some options to consider:  Adam short feather embroidered skirt for $495 on www.shopadam.com; Aqua Luxe feather tube dress for $198 on www.bloomingdales.com; ASOS feather-trim tank for $52.38 on www.asos.com; Arden B feather-trim bandage dress for $79 on www.ardenb.com; Elizabeth & James feather tank on sale for $171.50 on www.shopbop.com; Glamorous dress with feather skirt on sale for $48.89 on www.asos.com; Aqua Luxe feather skirt for $178 on www.bloomingdales.com; Robert Rodriguez feather wool-blend tank on sale for $116 on www.theoutnet.com; Love Reign strapless faux-feather dress for $79 on www.dillards.com; J. Crew "Plumage" mini skirt on sale for $419.99 on www.jcrew.com; Juicy Couture charmeuse feather slip dress for $125.99 on www.bluefly.com; Sachin + Babi for Ankasa "Amri" top on sale for $272.52 on www.couturecandy.com; Robbi & Nikki tiered feather skirt for $158 on www.bluefly.com.

While feathered clothing is a big trend this fall and winter, feathered jewelry may be an even bigger trend.  A lot of jewelry designers have been incorporating feathers into their earrings and also into necklaces and bracelets.  I have already picked up a pair of feather earrings and a feather bracelet and I'm loving them!  If you also want to give this trend a try, below are some feathered jewelry options for you to consider:  Alexia Crawford feather earrings for $8 on www.nordstrom.com; ASOS bracelet with leaf and feather drop for $13.97 on www.asos.com; Alkemie Jewelry spider & feather earrings on sale for $115.30 on www.shopbop.com; ASOS navajo eagle feather necklace for $13.97 on www.asos.com; Stephan & Co. feather and bead earrings for $8 on www.nordstrom.com; Betsey Johnson "Asian Jungle" feather necklace for $65 on www.nordstrom.com; Prism stone and feather earrings for $29 on www.urbanoutfitters.com; Serefina short mesh feather necklace for $78 on www.shopbop.com; Serefina chain feather earrings for $48 on www.shopbop.com; Long feather duster earrings for $29 on www.urbanoutfitters.com.
