Trend Alert: Denim and Leather Combo Jackets

Many celebs have recently been spotted wearing a denim and leather jacket by Alexander Wang pictured above on Blake Lively, Rhianna, and Christina Milian. THIS Saturday, October 31, 2009, the Short North Business Association will be hosting the second annual HighBall Halloween, which will feature a couture costume fashion show. This $2 event will be a cross between a fashion show and cirque with a pinch of Halloween and a healthy splash of the Short North's artistic spirit. The event will feature outrageous costume contests for the general public, a couture costume fashion showdown for fashion professionals, the Dogtober Howloween Procession for costume-crazed pet owners, live bands, the city's hottest DJs, and all the artistic creativity one would expect of the Short North.

The evening will start with live performances on a stage situated between 3rd and 5th Ave. "The emphasis of the evening is on alter egos," shares John Angelo, Executive Director of the Short North Business Association and event coordinator. "This is not going to be your basic slasher, frightmare Halloween. It's not the stereotypical witches, goblins and ghouls. HighBall will pulse with creativity, self-expression and energy. It will be an immersion in absolute fabulousness… a celebration of Columbus' creative class. It's all about wow-factor, alter-egos, Priscilla Queen of the Desert and trick-or-treat 'eye candy.'"

The event will begin at 4:00 p.m. and end by midnight. "The beauty of HighBall," say Charly Bauer, event co-chair and co-owner of Jeni's Ice Creams, "is that it kicks off an incredible evening for Columbus' free spirits. After an unforgettable time directly on High Street for the first part of the evening, attendees can pick from dozens of bars and clubs in the area to continue the vibe well into the morning hours. Jean Paul Gaultier to Design Clothing Line for Target

Jean Paul Gaultier will be designing a clothing line for Target under Target's Designer Collaboration series. The line will be available in 250 Target stores throughout the country and online on March 7, 2010. The inspiration for the line will be the American woman, celebrating the forces of style of both past and present in American pop culture. Jean Paul Gaultier is known for his somewhat outlandish designs (Lady Gaga is a big fan if that says anything). Pictures from the line are not yet available (posted above are pictures from his 2009 AW RTW collection). I can't wait to see what he has in store!
