In sum, the trends this Spring and Summer are aimed at giving the appearance of nudity. Exposed lingerie, sheer fabrics, and super short shorts are aimed at showing as much skin as possible, while soft neutrals and nude shoes are aimed at making you appear naked by using colors that match your skintone.

Spring/Summer 2010 Fashion Trend: Polka Dots

This Spring and Summer polka dots are not just for your itsy bitsy tiny weeny yellow bikini! Polka dotted prints were all over the SS2010 runways in all different sizes and colors (Above: 3.1 Philip Lim; Derek Lam; Marc by Marc Jacobs; Marni). While I'm not a huge fan of this trend, I don't really hate it either. Polka dots are classic and really never go out of style. I think the key is to not get carried away with the print. Also, remember that it is on-trend to mix a polka dot print with a contrasting print (i.e., stripes) in a similar color this Spring and Summer! Spring/Summer 2010 Fashion Trend: Denim on Denim

This Spring and Summer don't be surprised to see many women wearing jeans with a denim shirt, vest, or jacket. Yes, believe it or not, it is actually on-trend this Spring and Summer to pair a denim top with a denim bottom. This denim on denim trend was seen all over the SS2010 runways (Above: Chloe, D&G, Ralph Lauren, Twenty8Twelve). The key to pulling of this trend is to wear contrasting shades of denim on top and bottom. For instance, pair a chambray top with dark wash jeans, or a dark denim jacket with white jeans. If you wear the same shade of denim all over then you risk wearing what my husband refers to as "the Canadian Tuxedo"!!! Katie Holmes was recently spotted trying out this trend (see below) and I must say she is looking good in her light denim top and dark denim jeans.
