THIS Sunday, October 17th: Columbus Fashion Week Finale Runway Show

Various shops in the Short North have been participating in Columbus' Fashion Week all this week. This Sunday, October 17th, however, will be Fashion Week Finale Runway Show at the Columbus Athletic Club located in downtown Columbus. The runway show will start at 1:30 p.m. and run until 3:00 p.m.

Prior to the runway show, from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm, there will be a cocktail reception in the crystal ballroom of the Athletic Club. The reception will feature a cocktail hour, entertainment, a cashbar, and networking which grants you access to the main Fashion Week Columbus Finale Runway Event. This inaugural Gala will support the Stefanie Spielman Fund, Central Ohio Men Against Prostate Cancer (COMAPC), and the Fashion Week Columbus Foundation (FWCF) as our charitable causes this season. Susan Master from the reality show “She’s Got the Look”, Angela An, Reporter and News Anchor for WBNS 10TV, and Toni Cunningham of Image Anu and the Collective Magazine will serve as this year’s Pink Dress Ambassadors to bring awareness to National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Fashion Do: Aviator Jackets

A fall trend that has been spotted recently on a lot of celebrities (Above: Nicola Roberts; Blake Lively; Unknown at fashion week; Alexa Chung), and probably made popular by Burberry's amazing AW2010 collection, is the leather aviator jacket. While leather moto jackets are still on-trend this fall, the aviator style (with the shearling collar) is gaining in popularity. Personally, I love this style and would love to pick one up, but since I already have two leather jackets (one black moto; one camel bomber) currently in rotation, it is hard for me to justify purchasing a third! However, I'm definitely putting the aviator jacket on my lust list because I really love the coziness of the shearling collar and how the jacket can dressed up or down. TOMORROW: Jinny Tribal Solider Fall 2010 Benefit Fashion Show

TOMORROW from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., join Jinny and Love on Canvas for a Tribal Solider Fall 2010 benefit fashion show at The Kings Art Complex, which is located at 867 Mount Vernon Avenue, Columbus, Ohio 43203.

The evening's hostess is nonprofit leader and the ever-fashionable Toshia Safford, President and CEO of The Center for Healthy Families. The fashion show is slated to begin at 7:00 pm and runs through 9:00 pm and will feature heart-healthy hors d'oeuvres by Due Amici, Barrio, and Marjorie's Kitchen and will include a cash bar. Tickets will run $55 for general seating and $80 for VIP seating. Creative black tie dress code preferred. After-party immediately following the fashion show.

All proceeds will benefit Keeping Tabs On Your Heart (KTOYH), a non-profit organization developed by Daphne Bell after the untimely death of her husband, former NFL standout, Todd Anthony Bell, to a sudden heart attack. Bell is a spokesperson for The OSU Richard M. Ross Heart Hospital and The Columbus American Heart Association. Daphne has teamed up with experts from Ross and American Heart Association to help create awareness about heart disease in the underserved and under informed demographic. KTOYH's program Project Red Flag is committed to promoting the prevention and management of hypertension, high cholesterol, diabetes, and heart disease among minority communities.

The Tribal Soldier fashion show is the 16th to be produced by Love on Canvas, a local fashion event organization helmed by Mikah Dwayne Marshall Brown and Ludie Senatus; a 25-year veteran of the fashion industry and current president of Marshall Brown Presents talent booking agency, and director of Marshall Brown Represents (MBR) with a near decade of runway and fashion experience, respectively.

Event sponsors include: Vino 100, who will host a French wine tasting. The fashion show will also debut accessories designed exclusively jinny by local designer Honey Rose & K. Alexanders Jewelers and Image Optical, both in the Short North, will unleash their new fine jewelry and optical collections for fall on the runway.
