My Lust List

It is my favorite time of year in the C-bus right now when everything is blooming and it isn't yet too hot. I am also a big fan of Springtime (and summer) in Columbus because it gives me an excuse to buy my favorite types of clothes (girly sundresses, jewelry, and sandals). The photos above and below are some the items that I currently have my eye on. Above: Mania Mania "Immortals" ring for $400 on www.shopbop.com; "Open Bloom" top for $68 on www.anthropologie.com; RED Valentino bow espadrilles for $250 on www.piperlime.com; Lipsy floral garland hair band on sale for $10.18 on www.asos.com. 2013 Met Gala: The Best and the Worst
A few days ago the stars gathered in New York to attend the 2013 Met Gala held at MoMA. I was a HUGE fan of this year's theme: "PUNK: Chaos to Couture." The stars also seemed to enjoy the theme and dressed in their best punk-inspired couture. Some got it right while others really missed the mark. Below are my picks for the best and worst dressed, as well as some hints on recreating the best-dressed's looks.
BEST DRESSED

Emma Watson, Taylor Swift, Gwen Stefani, and Blake Lively really hit it out of the park for me with their dress selections. Each of their dresses read "punk" to me without taking the theme too literally. I loved Emma Watson's minimalist cut-out dress, Gwen Stefani's bow top, the contrasting hard and soft aspects of Taylor Swift's dress, and the black-swan thing that Blake Lively had going on. To get each of their looks, consider these options:
Emma Watson

Above: Love maxi dress for $46.55 on www.asos.com; Nine West "Goulding 3" pump for $89 on www.piperlime.com.
Taylor Swift

Above: ASOS studded maxi dress for $79.80 on www.asos.com; nOir pyramid spike bracelet on sale for $90 on www.bloomingdales.com; Berlin studded clutch for $48 on www.nastygal.com.
Gwen Stefani

Above: "Found Love" crop top for $28 on www.nastygal.com; BB Dakota "McKinley" maxi skirt for $84 on www.shopbop.com; Forever 21 bolt studded minaudiere for $27.80 on www.forever21.com; ASOS V-link necklace for $41.56 on www.asos.com.
Blake Lively

Above: Mignon dress for $478 on www.uniquevintage.com; Stars of Crystal handpiece for $100 on www.nastygal.com; Tinley Road rhinestone paisley earrings on sale for $11.97 on www.piperlime.com.
BEST ACCESSORIZED

Jessica Alba, Jennifer Lawrence, Sienna Miller, and Ivanka Trump also topped my best-dressed list because they really knew how to accessorize their otherwise not-so-punk dresses with some great punk-inspired accessories without going overboard. Jessica Alba's clutch is TDF. I love Jennifer Lawrence's veil and spiked pumps. Sienna Miller took a risk wearing a studded leather jacket, but it really worked for me as did the spiked headband. And I also loved Ivanka Trump's subtly-dyed green hair and all of her studded gold accessories. To get each of their looks, consider these options:
Jessica Alba

Above: BCBG "Ava" cutout gown for $448 on www.bcbg.com; BCBG "Jana" mohawk spike clutch for $198 on www.bcbg.com.
Jennifer Lawrence

Above: Badgley Mischka sweethart lace dress on sale for $460 on www.bloomingdales.com; Netted tulle veil for $12 on www.uniquevintage.com; Ivanka Trump "Ayla" pump on sale for $127.50 on www.piperlime.com.
Sienna Miller

Above: Bitching & Junkfood stud collar harness-back dress for $207.81 on www.asos.com; Vila studded leather jacket for $282.63 on www.asos.com; BCBG spike headband on sale for $26.60 on www.bcbg.com.
Ivanka Trump

Above: Rory Beca "Paradise" blouse on sale for $99.99 on www.piperlime.com; Sabine pleated maxi skirt for $59 on www.piperlime.com; ASOS plate and spike belt for $24.94 on www.asos.com; Hive & Honey pave spike necklace for $38 on www.piperlime.com; CC Skye "Mercy" spike bracelet for $185 on www.piperlime.com; Rebecca Minkoff studded pave leather bracelet for $128 on www.piperlime.com.
WORST DRESSED

Beyonce, Anne Hathaway, Nina Dobrev, and Madonna struck me as the worst fashion offenders at the gala. I thought that Beyonce's dress was ill-fitting, I don't understand the fabric on the bottom, and the gloves don't quite work with the dress for me. While I liked Anne Hathaway's makeup and hair, there is just way too much going on on that dress. The same goes for Nina Dobrev's outfit selection. As for Madonna, my parents always said that when you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all. You have to admit that the woman does have a banging body though!
WORST STYLING

Ginnifer Goodwin, Nicole Ritchie, Miley Cyrus, and Sarah Jessica Parker also topped my list of the worst-styled ladies at the event. While Ginnifer Goodwin's dress is not that bad (albeit a bit ill-fitting), I just can't get over that overly-dramatic black eye shadow. I actually really like Nicole Ritchie's dress (very Rachel Zoe-esque), but the hair just kills the look for me altogether. Miley Cyrus was a double offender with some seriously wacky hair and a dress that I am really just not feeling. However, she is young and fun and I do at least understand where she was going with the hair, although it was perhaps too literal for the event. Finally, Sarah Jessica Parker was guilty of styling overkill if you ask me. While I really do like the dress, including the shape and the print, and I can get over the odd headdress because it is somewhat fabulous and she is ever so fabulous, those tartan boots should have been left at home.
What do you think of my picks for the best and worst dressed at the 2013 Met Gala? Let me know!
