Trend Alert: Breton Striped Dresses

Recently, a lot of celebrities have been sporting breton striped dresses (Above: Kristen Cavallari; Olivia Palermo; Kim Kardashian). The great thing about this trend is that it can be dressed up as seen on Olivia Palermo or down as seen on Kristen Cavallari. The not so great thing about this trend is that horizontal stripes are not always the most flattering if you aren't stick thin, so if you are going to try out this trend, be conscious of the fact that the stripes may give the illusion that you are wider than you truly are. One way to combat this effect is to break it up with the use of a solid (preferably dark-colored) cardigan, jacket, or blazer over the dress. If you are loving this rather classic trend and want to try it out, below are some options for you to choose from: Aqua striped jersey minidress for $78 available on www.bloomingdales.com; ASOS stripe bodycon dress for $41.19 available on www.asos.com; G-star breton stripe knit dress for $161.47 available on www.asos.com; One Clothing nautical striped minidress for $39 available on www.macys.com; See by Chloe ruffle stripe jersey dress for $240 on www.nordstrom.com; ASOS stripe v-neck jersey t-shirt dress for $37.39 available on www.asos.com; One Clothing striped scoopneck dress for $39 available on www.macys.com; Silence & Noise silhouette dress for $58 available on www.urbanoutfitters.com.
