Fall/Winter 2011 Fashion Trend: Orange/Rust

I thought I'd kick off my summary of this fall/winter's hottest trends with one of the season's trendiest colors:  orange (or rust).  This color was heavily featured in many designer collections on the AW2011 runways (Below: Gucci; Blumarine; Bottega Veneta; Derek Lam).  Admittedly, orange can be a tricky color to pull off.  I have a bright orange Milly blazer that I absolutely adore, but I constantly struggle with what to pair it with.  Because it is such a statement color, I usually stick with a khaki or tan dress or skirt for work and dark jeans and white top when I wear it casually.  If you are feeling particularly bold, however, try wearing orange all over like the looks pictured below for a monochromatic look!

Way back in December I told you that fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld (Chanel) will be designing a line for Macy's. Well, pictures for the collection were released earlier this month and the collection is available in Macy's stores starting TODAY and online at www.macys.com!  My favorite looks from the collection are above. Nothing in the collection costs costs more than $170 and dresses run around $120 each. I've posted the rest of the collection below. I really am loving this collection and will be stopping by Macy's on Saturday to check it out in person. Raid My Closet: End-of-the-Summer Purchases

I've purchased a few things during the end-of-summer sales that have been popping up lately so I thought I'd go ahead and show you all what I got. I've saved my autumn/winter purchases for a different post. All of these items were purchased at major discounts and I'm pretty pleased with everything!  First, I recently picked up the above straw hat by French Connection from www.asos.com (originally $63.78) to replace one that I ripped while on vacation in Las Vegas. I also recently bought the above necklace on www.shopbop.com by Sachin + Babi which I absolutely LOVE. It is an amazing statement necklace and I really like that brand's jewelry although I have noticed that a few beads have fallen off already. I purchased the above blush blazer from www.shockboutique.com (originally $62) and the floral dress by Rachel Rachel Roy from Macy's (originally $119) to wear at a work function over the summer -- the Rachel Roy for Macy's line is fantastic, so if you haven't checked it out yet, I recommend that you do!

Style Muse: Mila Kuniz

I have had a major girl crush on Mila Kuniz ever since her "That 70s Show" days, but I haven't really been a fan of her fashion until recently. It wasn't that I didn't like the way that she dressed previously, but it just seemed very "blah" and uninspired. All that seems to have changed though cause Mila really seems to have stepped up her diva factor ever since "Black Swan" came out. And she has been looking great making her rounds lately promoting her "Friends with Benefits" movie. I like how she can go from sexy vixen, to girly, to classic, to edgy. I'm excited to see what she wears next!
