Spring/Summer 2012 Fashion Trend: Peplum

Another trend this Spring and Summer are peplum skirts, shirts, jackets, and dresses.  If you don't know what a peplum is, it is a tiny skirt over a longer skirt.  (See above: Manish Arora; Camilla and Marc; Badgley Mischka; Preen).  I like this trend because it is fun and flirty, but if you are wider on the bottom, you may want to steer clear of this trend because it does add volume to your lower half.  If, however, you are blessed with a slim figure and want to give this trend a try, below are some options to consider:  Twisted peplum dress for $58 on www.nastygal.com; Sailboat peplum top for $17.80 on www.forever21.com; "Eternal Flame of Love" skirt for $42.99 on www.modcloth.com; Robert Rodriguez peplum romper for $325 on www.shopbop.com; Peplum shell for $39.39 on www.asos.com; "Oh my Love" dress for $62.67 on www.asos.com; Parker lace peplum bustier for $198 on www.nordstrom.com; Marc by Marc Jacobs "Hannah" skirt for $168 on www.nordstrom.com; Marc by Marc Jacobs "Flavin" top for $198 on www.bloomingdales.com; "Broken Levels" skirt for $138 on www.anthropologie.com; Blouson peplum top for $19.80 on www.forever21.com; "Arrival Time" backless peplum dress for $60 on www.lulus.com.
