Fall/Winter 2010 Fashion Trend: Ladylike Top-Handle Bags

If you are thinking about picking up a new handbag this fall/winter, the top-handle satchel is one of the must-have bags of the season. Remember that this fall/winter it is all about gender extremes -- either super masculine or uber feminine -- and a ladylike satchel is right in keeping with the feminine trend. Top-handle satchels were in all of the major collections on the AW2010 runways (Above: Gucci, Marni, Louis Vuitton, Dolce & Gabanna). Admittedly, this trend may not be super practical for the businesswoman or the mom-on-the-go since they are meant to be held in your hand or in the crook of your elbow, but not on your shoulder. Personally, I love this trend because it suits my girly aesthetic, but I know that I would find myself getting annoyed with not being able to throw the bag over my shoulder. That is why many designers are adding a detachable cross-body strap to the top-handle satchels, which I think is a great idea to make the bag more appealing for everyday use. If you are in the market for a new handbag this fall/winter and you are liking this trend, below are some options to consider, many of which contain the cross-body strap option: ASOS faux ostrich lady bag for $53.92 on www.asos.com; ASOS tassel frame bag for $109.53 on www.asos.com; B.
