Another trend that was popular on the fall 2009 fashion runways were menswear inspired pieces. Think structured trousers in masculine fabrics, vests, tuxedo jackets and shirts, and oversized blazers. Above: Jean Paul Gaultier, Moschino, Rag & Bone, Stella McCartney. I have always been a fan of menswear inspired pieces, but I think the trick to pulling them off is to not overdo it or you can look too androgynous. I particularly like the idea of pairing a feminine ruffled blouse with a pair of masculine tweed trousers for work. Below are some menswear inspired pieces for you to choose from if you think this trend appeals to you: Banana Republic 215 "Martin" grey pinstriped trouser for $98; Contributor by Rachel Comey oxford for $78 available at Urban Outfitters; Armani Exchange cropped tweed vest for $88; BB Dakota "Luncheon" dress for $78 available on www.lulus.com; Zinc boyfriend blazer in silver or black for $48 available at Nordstrom; Forever 21 double button trousers for $22.80; Impo shoes "Tanvel" oxfords for $59 available at Macy's; Forever 21 pleated career vest for $22.80; Women's Xhilaration menswear striped fedora for $12.99 available at Target; Urban Renewal vintage 80s oversized blazer for $48 available at Urban Outfitters; Express "Editor" boucle textured pant for $88; Haute Hippie tuxedo shirtdress for $345 available at Nordstrom.
